Professional Henna Brow Tint
Henna Brow Tint is an incredible beauty treatment that tints BOTH skin (lasts up to two weeks) & natural hair (lasts 6-8 weeks). Best of all it is a SAFE and wonderful option for those who cannot get permanent makeup due to illness and/or for clients who are apprehensive about committing to a permanent powder brow. Henna is often requested by clients who have an event to attend or are going away on a business trip or vacation. It instantly gives the brows definition and shape!
What is Henna Brow Tint?
The Henna plant, also referred to as the Henna Tree, is a flowering plant that can grow 15 feet high. Henna grown in hot climates contains more dye pigment and produces the best quality henna when grown in a 45-degree Celsius+ environment. The stain that is achievable from good quality henna sourced from hot and dry climates is darkest and longest lasting.
At Caren Beauty, we only use Egyptian henna for its purest and strongest pigment available in the current beauty market. The henna is carefully grown, processed, shipped and is then manufactured by Australia’s highly reputable company, Hennatician. It is manufactured under the strictest Australian standards and then exported internationally to you.
Traditionally, henna is known to have a red or orange tint. This Australian line of henna tints is specifically made for eyebrows only and comes in various shades to suit blondes, brunettes, dark hair, and varying undertones.
Using henna for eyebrow tinting is considered a natural alternative to other chemical dyes. As a plant-based option, this an appealing option for colouring the brow hair creating a skin stain. It is one of the safest and most effective techniques for henna eyebrow application.
Henna brow tinting helps to make eyebrows more expressive, disguises gaps in over-tweezed or receding eyebrows, and nourishes and thickens existing brow hairs with unique strengthening ingredients. The result is a superior henna dye that goes on faster, lasts longer, and gives a natural, powdery, fuller eyebrow.
How is henna different to conventional eyebrow tinting?
Aside from being a naturally derived product, henna does not require an oxidizing agent to penetrate the cortex and deposit colour into the hair. Instead, henna coats the hair with the colour, smoothing the outer layers of the brow hairs to give the appearance of thicker and darker hair.
What to expect during the henna session?
Expect not to be rushed during your appointment. This is a relaxing and luxurious treatment performed while you are lying down. It will take approximately 1 hour to cleanse and exfoliate your eyebrow area and rinse using warm water. This is followed by careful “mapping” to ensure symmetry and a great shape. A custom henna tint will be mixed with warm distilled water to create a paste that is applied to your outlined eyebrows. While the henna is drying, I then proceed to wax and tweeze the stray brow hairs surrounding the desired eyebrow shape. After about 15-20 minutes, the henna is removed with warm distilled water and voila! Say hello to your new and gorgeous full brows!
Do not use strong eye make-up removers for 48 hours as it may strip the colour – Please note that oil based makeup remover can cause the henna stain to fade faster.
Do not rub, pull or pick at the area treated.
Do not allow shampoo or conditioner to go on the brows for the first 24 hours.
Be gentle with your eyebrows when cleansing to extend the life of the stain on the skin. Obviously, if you scrub, peel etc. on that area, the stain behind the brow is going to disappear much faster. Also, exercise caution when applying any type of skincare products containing exfoliants (topical acne medications, retinol, lightening products, AHAs, BHAs, etc.) Avoid putting these ingredients on your brows, as they will promote fading.
Avoid heat treatments/facials that involve steaming for 24 hours.
Avoid sunbathing for 24 hours.
Avoid swimming/saunas for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
Exposure to the sun/UV lights for long periods can cause the henna stain to fade quicker.
If any irritation occurs, apply a clean cold wet pad to the eye area or contact a doctor.
Points to consider
With the tint, a traditional dye and peroxide mixture is used to only tint the hairs, not the skin. Henna will not only dye the hairs but will leave a stain (for approx. up to 2 weeks) on the skin behind the brow, giving the brow a fuller and filled in look. In terms of longevity, tint lasts up to 4 weeks on the hair, henna can last 6-8 weeks on the hair.
Brow lamination is not recommended for use on hair which has been previously dyed with henna. If you wish to do either henna or lamination, it is recommended that you wait at least 10-16 weeks before performing brow lamination services and vice versa.
Please note, if you are sensitive to hair dye or your skin is generally very sensitive, it is recommended that you get a henna patch test and wait 24 hours before getting the service done. Contact Caren Beauty to schedule a patch test.
Will the henna fade blotchy?
Not at all! The henna tint will fade gradually, thanks to proper prepping of the skin using a gentle exfoliator, no flaking or blotchiness should occur.
How do I know which one I might want to book?
If you are someone who does not normally wear any brow cosmetics (or very little) and prefers a subtler look to your brows, then start with the eyebrow tint or even a brow lamination service. If you are accustomed to a very defined and filled in eyebrow and like a richer, solid colour, go with the eyebrow henna.
