Being dissatisfied with your eyebrows is more common than you think. Many consider microblading to help shape their brows to better suit and reconstruct their overall look. But what exactly is microblading? Is it right for you? Eyebrow microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo. It is a great alternative to permanent tattooing or filling in your eyebrows using makeup. The appearance is very natural and gives the illusion of real hair. The goal is for you to wake up, look in the mirror, and see the youthful eyebrows you once had. Your brows frame your face and influence the rest of its construction, and making them look too heavy is a common worry surrounding microblading. But, this procedure doesn’t result in a harsh “all-eyebrow” look, but gives them a natural, fuller expression.
Microblading lasts 1 to 3 years depending on the client’s skin regimen, resistance to pigment, and exposure to sun. This method is great for anyone wanting to enhance or reconstruct the look of their brows without stressing with makeup every morning. Since it isn’t fully permanent, you’re not stuck with a faded tattoo that changes colour like a traditional, solid, permanent tattoo would. Microblading will fade true to colour until your skin naturally regenerates over time and the semi-permanent tattoo fades until it is gone. If you want to maintain the hair-like strokes, you can do so as you notice it fading anywhere between 6 months to 2 years (depending on your skin and lifestyle).
Microblading is perfect for:
- Hair loss or thin brows due to over-tweezing
- Correcting asymmetry or unevenness
- Trouble applying eyebrow makeup
- Active lifestyle
- Chemotherapy or Alopecia
Microblading is NOT recommended if you are/have:
- Pregnant or nursing (consult doctor)
- Diabetic (consult doctor)
- Undergoing chemotherapy (consult doctor)
- Viral Infections
- A pacemaker or heart problems
- Had an organ transplant
- Current skin irritation, psoriasis near treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, eczema, keloids, etc.)
- Sick (cold, flu, etc.)
- Had Botox in the past 2 weeks
- Used Accutane in the past year
- Skin is very fair, extremely sensitive and thin
It is important to know that eyebrow microblading is a 2-3 step procedure performed over a period of 8-12 weeks to achieve your desired brow shape. In time and with patience, you will achieve your eyebrow goals.

How you take care of your new eyebrows over the next 7 days will ultimately determine the healing, colour retention, final appearance and longevity of your eyebrows.
What to Expect After the Procedure
After your microblading procedure, your brows will be topped with an aftercare ointment. You will also be provided with an Aftercare Kit to take home. Apply the aftercare given over the brows 1-2 times a day or as needed to avoid them from becoming dry or feeling tight. You may also experience swelling that can be managed with soft gel ice packs. Place chilled gel packs in a plastic bag before applying to eyebrows to protect the area from any moisture.
On Day 2 and 3, your eyebrows will be darker than you would expect. No need to worry, this is part of the healing process and will lighten quite a bit. Begin to wash your eyebrows using a mild cleanser everyday.
On Day 4 and 5, your eyebrows may feel a bit itchy and most likely will be scabbing and/or flaking. I know it’s hard to resist, but avoid scratching or picking at them as this could cause pigment loss and scarring. Continue to apply the aftercare ointment.
By Day 10, your eyebrows should be pretty much healed and you can resume to regular activities and applying makeup.
You will be given an Aftercare Kit to take home.
Things to Avoid
- After the first day of the procedure, wash and clean your eyebrows using a mild cleanser
- Do not sleep on your face for the first 7-10 days. Silk pillow case is recommended
- No exercise or any activity that will cause excessive sweating for 7-10 days
- No skin creams and products containing Retin-A, AHA or any kind of skin peel for 7-10 days
- Pools, Jacuzzis and saunas should be avoided for 7-10 days
- No facials, facial fillers, Botox or makeup on eyebrows for 7-10 days
- No tanning or sun exposure for 7-10 days. Sun block should always be applied over eyebrows (SPF 50+ once the eyebrows are healed, not during the healing process)
The colour immediately after microblading will appear very sharp and dark but will soften and fade considerably (up to 40%) as the healing process concludes. The final appearance of the microbladed area should be considered in approximately 3 months, once you’ve healed from the touch up procedure.
Less is definitely more when it comes to microblading eyebrows. This is a custom built brow and may take up to 3 times to ensure the pigment is in the skin and for achieving your final desired brow look. A touch-up appointment is required with this procedure where you may need to reshape or augment your eyebrows.
In 2-3 months, book a touch-up appointment to fill in areas that may have lost pigment or any areas that need to be filled in. The touch up fee is an additional $150.
If you wish to book the full procedure, a 20% ($90) deposit via e-transfer to a firstname.lastname@example.org is required to secure your booking. Your appointment is not booked until your deposit is received and the deposit is non-refundable.
Your touch-up appointment must be booked within 8-12 weeks to fill in areas that may have lost pigment or to correct asymmetry. It is not a touch up if it is past the maximum 3 month wait time and you will be required to pay the initial price. Once the desired brow shape is achieved, it is recommended to book maintenance. If there are barely any hair strokes remaining at the time of the maintenance, it will be considered a redo and you will be required to pay the initial fee.
